In the event we needed to get to the hot water heater, we would simply remove the plastic caps and screws, and slide each lightweight door out. The door panel closest to the cabinet would slide out first and then the door panel propped against the sink base would slide out next and that would open up that corner. (If you were looking at it from above, the doors only make a L shape around the water heater. It is completely open on the top.)

The cabinet to the left of the hot water heater enclosure is free-standing so it can also easily be pulled out of the way if an even larger space is needed to replace or work on the water heater. (You may want to change your settings so you can receive reply emails to questions).

My only expense to fill my sunken living room was the cost of the concrete. I don't know if there was any additional delivery charge for the mixer truck or if that was factored into the price. My total cost was $600.00 (in 2009). I did not have any contractor or labor charges because my daughter's friend was the contractor and he and my daughter's boyfriend took care of what little labor was involved (prepping, leveling etc.).

My daughter's contractor friend took care of ordering the appropriate amount of concrete but I think concrete is priced by the cubic yard. Since I, unfortunately, don't have a clue how to figure out how many cubic yards of concrete my living room required, I'll just give you the approximate dimensions so you can get an idea of how it might compare to a sunken room you might want to fill. My living room is roughly 12 feet x 16 feet and I would estimate the depth they needed to fill was approximately 5 inches.

No insulation in the floor. Here in Florida, the flooring material is laid directly on top of the concrete slab so after the concrete hardened, carpet padding and then carpet was laid over the concrete. You put a lot of work and thought into this and I too appreciate you giving out this information. I love painting furniture but have only used chalk paint for furniture. Previously I was doing "re-finishing" which is a lot of work but very rewarding. I no longer have the energy for all that prep and sanding to refinish good wood furniture, so painting is now the way to go. With your tutorial, I now have more information to do some more pieces with latex. Thanks so much.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07639472485230330907noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4658720088249679531.post-91197826673572761822015-04-23T13:01:51.606-04:002015-04-23T13:01:51.606-04:00Where did you find replacement feet? They had been stuffed into an eighteen wheeler with 23 other draft mares with foals and shipped from Canada to a sale barn in Madisonville, Texas. The news they were arriving had traveled through the equine community in central Texas so the horses were all adopted - saved from the truck's next stop at a Mexican slaughterhouse.
Our first chalange was to load them into the trailer to get them home. After years of dealing with cranky horses and unpredictable longhorns - this experience topped any I'd had, but we were successful and got them home without mishap. So Flora (our big beautiful Belgian) and Beebe (her red baby girl) began our journey together. I could only imagine what lay ahead for us both as we began the S-L-O-W process of learning trust.
PMU horses are worse than wild - they are Terrified of humans. It is much easier to gentle a wild mustang that's never been around humans. These poor girls experienced the WORST treatment humans could dish out and transmitted that terror to their foals!
I am not a horse trainer but was taught "Horse" by my wonderfully trained Tennessee Walker, and he also helped me teach them - first to trust then to love.
Seven years later I am still the only person Flora trusts. While she's not the best ride in my barn - she's definitely a show stopper and likes to ride in parades! Beebe has turned out to be an excellent trail riding horse - and LOVES children. I can truly say they have given us as much as we've given them and our "Forever Home" together.mwonderlandhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03584263613535517737noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4658720088249679531.post-70150487666443651972014-08-06T13:31:38.485-04:002014-08-06T13:31:38.485-04:00I am going to try your cheesecake, it looks so yum...I am going to try your cheesecake, it looks so yummy.
Can you also tell me the name of the china, its beautiful?Romancing The Rose Studiohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14604121166372670617noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4658720088249679531.post-10568353705773462422014-07-21T13:44:34.924-04:002014-07-21T13:44:34.924-04:00Thanks for this post. When I ran...I just found your blog and I love it! When I ran across this post thought I felt I had to comment on it as it could have been written by me except that we moved 5 weeks ago. In our old house in town, our bedroom was the biggest in the house, but the other rooms ran small. In our 'new' 1943 farmhouse, our bedroom is the smallest in the house. The only wall our bed will fit on is the window wall IF we want any kind of bedside table. So, we decided on a metal headboard for the exact same reason. It was silver and I thought about white, but the wide moldings around the window and the blinds are all white and I was afraid you would lose the headboard! So, I grabbed my old standby Rustoleum Oil Rubbed Bronze and ended up with a headboard that looks black. I LOVE it! My room isn't coming together very quickly either and most of my supplies are boxed up somewhere. Looking over your blog dates makes me have more confidence that I CAN do this!
