Goodies From Goodwill

A quick stop at Goodwill last week netted me a few goodies.
I found a second, smaller picnic basket to go with the bigger one I bought a couple weeks ago.  The smaller basket was the same price I paid for the large one…$4.00.

This wicker waste paper basket was a pretty replacement for an ugly plastic one I had been using.  It was $3.00.

I paid $5.00 for this  13” tall lamp. I plan to do a little cosmetic makeover on it and place it on the dresser in my beachy bedroom.  I believe this is one of those lamps that has the base that will unscrew and then it can be filled with whatever you want to put into it.   At the very least, the “gold” base and tarnished neck will be painted white.  If I can get it apart, I might even paint the shells white (or give them a white wash)  since they are mostly “junk” shells…not very pretty from what I can tell but I’ll see what I have if I can get it open.    I already had a shade that fits it perfectly.

I have been seeing so many neat projects all over Blogland that use picture frames so these 3 frames with pretty, intricate details ended up in my cart…pronto..without a second thought!   I will dispose of the picture that is in the one and paint them.   I paid $5.00 for the large one, which is fairly large (20” x 24”), $5.00 for the medium-sized one on the left, and $3.00 for the smaller one in the front.

Oooooooh, don’t you think these will be gorgeous painted white?!

  5. Shari- I think we like picnic baskets! I found a little wicker basket last week, too. The frames will look gorgeous painted white, then aged a little in places. Thanks for telling me my lawn looked good. I work on it, toots! And I am finally rid of the moles that were plaguing me!

  16. Hi Shari,
I think white paint is great for your frames...I went through a phase recently of silver leafing mirror frames while remodeling our house. That give me an idea for a new post..Thanks for help with "blogger's block". Oh, and your other finds are great too! Have fun with them.

  18. What wonderful bargains you have found! I am hoping that the thrift stores in the new town I am moving to will be better than the ones in the town I am leaving. There are a couple of HUGE Goodwill stores, that I can't wait to visit!
