One Chore Leads to Another

 IMG_2529 (2) (C&E)

My efforts at the laborious job of packing for the move to the house in Hooterville continue but I got a little side-tracked again.

With all the time we’ve spent renovating the Hooterville house and farm over the past 13 months, it’s been  a while since I’ve taken the time to  do any heavy-duty dusting  in My Cottage of Bliss.

Apparently longer than I realized!

Dusting has never been my favorite housekeeping job anyway but when I started to wrap and box up the nick-nacks and collections, I was actually repulsed by how grimy everything felt.

Ick!

I couldn’t bring myself to pack it all up without washing it  first.  This is when I wish I didn’t have so many collections!

Pictured above are pieces of my grandmother’s milk glass which she gave to me through the years prior to her death 4 years ago at the age of 99.  I haven’t even gotten to my mom’s crystal pieces, my Precious Moments figurines, or the china cabinet yet!

I’m just really ready to have this business of packing and moving DONE so it’s a pain to have to take the time to wash this stuff before I wrap and box it for the move.  I have to keep reminding myself that even though it’s slowing me down now,  it will save me time later.   It will be wonderful to  just unpack and immediately put my (clean) collections  away in their new home.

What’s your favorite and/or least favorite housekeeping job?

My least favorite job is mopping floors.... :(

Also on the dusting I dislike that also I just used to tell myself it is part of the "antiquing" process it helps the piece look vintage :)
Enjoy and I know I hate packing too but it is so much fun unpacking all your wonderful treasures!!!

Shari, your collection of milk glass is fabulous. So many beautiful pieces. My least favorite housekeeping job is the bathrooms! Ug! Enjoy finding all of your old treasures.

The process of moving is never fun but the end result is worth it, especially with your gorgeous new home. Love your milk glass collection!

This may sound dumb, but I hate hanging up clothes. I don't mind the towels, or the folded clothes in the drawers...but the ones on the hangers....I HATE IT!!

Your milk glass is gorgeous and it'll be so nice to just be able to put it out when you move! I hate dusting and mopping!

Oh, I have to say dusting...and it can be quite bad when the trucks go up and down the road during harvest time! Your milk glass collection has some great pieces. My daughter has started gathering pieces and when I find things I also get them for her. Thanks for sharing. ♥♫

Hi Shari...

I'm with you.... I always wash everything before I more too.... I like to just unpack and start decorating...and then it's like opening a prize package! Whooopeee... Wouldn't be nearly as much fun if things weren't clean.... I have a LOT of packing experience.... I wish I lived closer... I'd wash and pack with you!
