Thank Heaven For Little Girls!

Edited on 9/18/09:  Marie over at Emma Calls Me Mama is having an Heirloom Party and I have decided to revive this old post I did about a month ago so I could  join the party and share this outfit that I hope becomes a family heirloom some day.  If you are a regular visitor to my blog and have seen this post before, I apologize.

*******************************

I had actually planned to do this post back in June when I was feeling very nostalgic about my “baby” girl celebrating her 27th birthday.  Ahhh well…better late (by almost exactly 2 months) than never.
Anyway, for this Pink Saturday, I’d like to share with you the fluffy, frothy, oh-so-pink and pretty  ensemble my daughter wore home from the hospital after she was born 27 years ago.
The outfit was store-bought but my mom made the coordinating lightweight baby blanket  out of a pink, rose-printed, soft cotton fabric and she edged it in lace.
Sadly, I do not have one photo of my daughter wearing this outfit.   Not one.  And I cannot explain why.

Is there anything more girly than pink roses, lots of lovely lace and pink satin ribbons?
I think not!

A pretty pink rosebud bonnet…
Even as small as it is, it was actually too big for my 6 pound newborn daughter’s head.

Sweet and oh-so-soft, teeny tiny, fuzzy, pink pom-pom booties…

IMG_2562 (E)

One of two little rose cluster appliqués…

Can’t you almost smell the sweet powdery baby scent?
Oh how I hope I someday have a precious little granddaughter who can wear this outfit home from the hospital after she is born…
Daughter, are you paying attention here?      :::wink:::

this is just darling Shari! I love that little rosebud material. We nicknamed our middle daughter "Rosebud", because her little mouth was so tiny and curled like a litle rosebud. I have an outfit from her that says rosebud. I will have to find it. How sweet you still have the whole ensemble. :)

Hi Shari,
Oh how very sweet and girly! I also have a daughter who is an only child and she is now 32 y.o. I have also kept some of her pretty smocked dresses in the hopes of someday having a granddaughter to give them to. No g/daughter yet but I have been blessed with 2 beautiful grandsons who bring me tremendous joy. There is just so much more to buy for a little girl but I must admit, I have also been able to shop a mean streak in the boys department. TFS! Sheila

Good Morning, Shari! You know?.. I keep dropping similar hints to MY daughter.. But she keeps INSISTING she wants to finish college FIRST!! Well, fine.. Be that way, I figure!.. If THAT'S the way she feels about it, I GUESS I can wait!.. (Ha! Ha!.. Just kidding, of course!.. She KNOWS I want her to finish college FIRST!!) What a beautiful little outfit your baby girl wore, and what beautiful memories you'll always hold dearly in your heart! Happy Pink Saturday, and hope you're enjoying a wonderful weekend! ~tina

Oh, Shari, that is absolutely precious! How I wish I had kept an outfit that my baby girl wore. I do have pictures of her in a couple of my favorites, but what happened to the outfits??? I was a little wiser the second time around, and have several outfits that I made for my granddaughters...hopefully, one of them will have a girl that can wear it someday. Just love it, booties, bonnet, and all! Have a wonderful Sunday, Shari!

How cute is this! And you've kept it all these years. What a pretty little baby she must have been wearing this outfit. Love the pinks and the laces. Wouldn't it be nice that her future daughter to be would get to wear this too. :-)

Oh this is scrumptious! I can just picture a baby girl in it and want to give her cuddles and kisses! This is my favorite kind of baby clothes, the old fashioned girly stuff. Boy clothes just aren't as cute. Thanks for the baby girl eye candy and Happy Pink Saturday!

What a sweet little outfit. I hope you get your grand daughter. I want one too. And I can relate to not having photos. I never took many photos of my son growing up. Lucky for me that my sister did & was willing to share.
